Lisa Petty is an Australian movement director, choreographer and intimacy director based in Melbourne. After training in dance and theatre, Lisa worked in New York with numerous contemporary, jazz and musical theatre companies. In Australia, Lisa has collaborated with both professionals and students working extensively as a movement director and choreographer across a wide range of styles in theatre companies and universities. Companies include Melbourne Opera, National Theatre, Opera Australia, Victoria, Sturt and Monash Universities, VCA, Arts Centre Melbourne and Playback Theatre. Lisa has also worked across theatre, opera and film as an Intimacy director/coordinator . Lisa completed significant research on the role WWII Australian dancehalls played in the lives of those who remained on the home front. The dance-theatre performance Dear Ida was created as a result of this work. In 2023 Lisa directed The Fabulous life of Lina Prokofiev, this work was chosen for the United Solo festival in New York 2024.
